ACEO's... having fun experimenting...

For the last few years I have been working mostly digitally & have done very little drawing or painting. As a result, I have become uncomfortable with the idea of trying to working traditionally again, specifically drawing. (you know... the fear thing...shhh...don't tell anyone...) So, when I heard about ACEO's (Art Cards, Editions & Originals) I became very intrigued & thought I would try my hand at creating some. I have found this to be the perfect way to get back into drawing without having to deal with the intimidation of a large sheet of paper! WOO HOO! The time invested isn't much, so if something doesn't come out right I can just pitch it without getting so frustrated. Another plus to doing them is if I do one I really like I can then spend the time to create it larger! WOO HOO TOO! Anyways... Here they are in various states of completion...

Some Fabulous Inspiration...

Do you ever run across someone or something that truly inspires you? I'm not talking about the transitory "This is cool." inspiration... I'm talking about the "Oh my gosh- I need to create because this is AMAZING!" inspiration. The kind of inspiration that pushes you to better yourself & what you are doing. Well Marisa has been that type of inspiration to me with her blog & her Etsy shop. I just love her style! Now you must know... I am not a girly girl- never have been... but Marisa's work makes me dream of girly things & being a girly girl if only for a moment! ...well... maybe more than a moment...

Here is some of her work...

More Mandalas

Here are some more mandalas that I have done. Before I started working digitally I used to paint. I had a shape that I liked to paint into patterns. On occasion, I would find myself creating a circular image. Here are a couple of my painted mandalas along with a digital one.

This one was created in Photoshop.
Size: 12.25" x 12.25"
I am considering altering the colors & textures.

This one is called "Untitled #15" or "Sundial".
It is acrylic on canvas board.
Size: 12" x 15.75"

This one is called "Altered Mandala".
It is acrylic on canvas board.
Size: 14" x 14"
